Baabda: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Thursday met Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, at Baabda Palace, where they discussed recent developments and ongoing regional and diplomatic efforts. Salam provided Aoun with insights from his recent visit to Syria, which he undertook with a ministerial delegation.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Salam briefed Aoun on his discussions with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa and other Syrian ministers. He described the talks as positive, emphasizing a focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors. The outcomes of these discussions are seen as a pivotal step in enhancing Lebanon-Syria relations.
Moreover, Aoun and Salam turned their attention to the upcoming Lebanese-American-Israeli negotiations set to take place at the US State Department in Washington. The two leaders reviewed the directives given to the Lebanese delegation, underscoring the importance of these talks in shaping future regional dynamics.
In a move to ensure cohesive and consistent representation, Aoun and Salam agreed on the necessity of maintaining close coordination throughout the negotiations. They also decided to convene a Cabinet session next week to further discuss and strategize on the issues at hand.
