Saida:A delegation from the British Embassy in Beirut, led by Charg©e d'Affaires Victoria Dunne, visited south Lebanon to observe the impact of conflict on local communities and to reaffirm the UK's commitment to stability and recovery in the region.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, the delegation's visit included a meeting in Saida with Mansour Daou, Governor of South Lebanon and Acting Governor of Nabatieh. The discussions focused on the current challenges faced by the region and the support required to enhance local resilience and recovery efforts.
At a Social Development Centre, the delegation was briefed by social workers from the Ministry of Social Affairs about their efforts to support vulnerable Lebanese households through the Government of Lebanon's Shock Responsive Safety Net Programme. This initiative is supported by a partnership with the World Food Programme, which receives humanitarian funding from the UK.
In Zahrani, the delegation visited a Lebanese Armed Forces training facility, upgraded in 2025 by the UK's Integrated Security Fund programme. This facility is crucial for training soldiers to be deployed across south Lebanon, strengthening the Lebanese state's presence and authority.
Victoria Dunne emphasized the significant impact of UK support, noting the severe humanitarian crisis in the region and the UK's ongoing commitment to working with the Government of Lebanon and humanitarian partners to aid those most in need.
