Beirut: A flag-hoisting ceremony was organized by the Embassy of Pakistan in Beirut on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day of Pakistan. The event was attended by members of the Pakistani community, Embassy staff and their families, as well as Lebanese citizens. The ceremony highlighted the strong bond of friendship between Pakistan and Lebanon.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the ceremony began with the hoisting of the national flag by the Ambassador of Pakistan, followed by the reading of messages from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan. These messages emphasized the significance of the day and reiterated the nation's dedication to its founding principles.

Ambassador Salman Athar, the Pakistani envoy to Lebanon, paid tribute to the founding fathers of Pakistan and acknowledged their sacrifices for the nation's creation. He addressed recent events, such as Marka-e-Haq, to emphasize Pakistan's commitment to peace and its capability to defend its sovereignty. The Ambassador also honored the martyrs of the Pakistani Armed Forces, law enforcement agencies, and police, recognizing the sacrifices made by their families.

Regarding Pakistan-Lebanon relations, Ambassador Athar noted the close fraternal ties between the two countries, supported by shared views on several international issues. He expressed hope for continued growth in bilateral relations in the future.

The Ambassador also expressed solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, reaffirming Pakistan's support for their right to self-determination. He urged the international community to address human rights violations in the region and called for a just resolution in line with UN Security Council Resolutions.

The ceremony concluded with special prayers for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
