Beirut: The Central Criminal Investigations Bureau, acting on the instructions of Public Prosecutor at the Court of Cassation Judge Ahmad Rami Al-Hajj, arrested former Syrian Army officer Major General Adel Issa. Issa, who served as the commander of the 17th Division of the Syrian Army during Bashar Al-Assad's rule, was apprehended in Lebanon.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Issa's arrest was executed following an in-absentia arrest warrant issued by the Syrian judiciary. The warrant accuses him of murder and crimes against humanity, serious charges that have prompted international and regional attention.

Judge Al-Hajj has taken steps to notify the Syrian Public Prosecutor about Issa's arrest. Moreover, he has requested that the judicial file concerning Issa be submitted for review.
