Interior Minister, Defense Minister, and UK Ambassador Sign MoU on British Security Assistance Program

Beirut: Interior and Municipalities Minister Ahmad Hajjar, Defense Minister Michel Menassa, and British Ambassador Hamish Cowell signed a memorandum of understanding on the UK's Integrated Security Assistance Programme (ISAP) for Lebanon at the Interior Ministry in Sanayeh. The event was attended by Internal Security Forces Director General Major General Raed Abdallah, Lebanese Army Deputy Chief of Staff for Planning Brigadier General Georges Saqr, and officials from both ministries and the British Embassy.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Hajjar, Menassa, and Cowell emphasized that the partnership reflects the depth of Lebanese-British cooperation and their commitment to strengthening Lebanon's military and security institutions. ISAP aims to bolster security, reduce drivers of instability, and strengthen institutions against internal and external threats.

The program supports the Interior and Defense ministries, including the ISF and Lebanese Army, by enhancing capabilities against security threats, such as terrorism and criminal violence. Support includes rehabilitating and equipping facilities, strengthening infrastructure and digital systems for intelligence-led policing, and providing training.
