Salam: Israeli escalation extremely dangerous, undermines efforts to stabilize the South: Prime Minister, Dr. Nawaf Salam, posted on the "X" platform: "The Israeli escalation witnessed since dawn today in the city of Nabatieh, the towns of Ansar and Deir al-Zahrani, and neighboring villages, accompanied by airstrikes, heavy shelling, and the terrorizing of residents in their homes, is a matter of grave concern that undermines efforts to establish stability in the South."
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Salam further expressed his concerns by highlighting the tragic loss of life in the town of Ansar, where seven individuals, including women and children, were killed as a result of the airstrike. He emphasized that these victims do not represent military infrastructure, underscoring the civilian nature of the casualties.
Salam stated that the responsibility for addressing any military structures on Lebanese soil falls solely under the purview of the Lebanese State, specifically through the Lebanese Army and its legitimate institutions. He asserted that the presence of such structures does not provide Israel with the justification to violate Lebanese territory or put civilians at risk.
The Prime Minister called for an immediate halt to the Israeli escalation, stressing that the security and right of the Lebanese people to live peacefully on their land should not be subjects of negotiation or compromise.
