Beirut: The House of Parliament approved the bill outlined in Decree No. 13356, granting the government authorization to join the Madrid Agreement Protocol concerning the international registration of trademarks, as amended on July 12, 2007. The protocol’s implementing regulations will come into effect starting February 1, 2021.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, this move allows the nation to participate in a streamlined international trademark registration system. By joining the Madrid Agreement Protocol, local businesses will have the opportunity to protect their trademarks across multiple countries with a single application.
The decision is expected to enhance the efficiency of trademark management for companies operating internationally. This step aligns with global efforts to facilitate trade and commerce by simplifying legal procedures related to intellectual property rights.
