Beirut: The Ministry of Public Works and Transport, through the Directorate General of Land and Maritime Transport, announced the implementation of several projects aimed at rehabilitating and developing infrastructure for the fishing sector as part of its ongoing efforts to support fishermen and enhance the sustainability of fishing ports and maritime facilities along the Lebanese coast.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the ministry said it has begun reconstruction and rehabilitation works for fishermen's rooms at the Manara-Ain El Mreisseh Port in Beirut. The project is being carried out under new plans that include the construction of entirely new facilities to replace the previous structures. Foundation works are currently underway, while construction continues at a steady pace ahead of the project's completion and its delivery for the benefit of fishermen.

The ministry also said it is continuing work on rebuilding the Fishermen's Cooperative at Barbara Port after the previous building was destroyed by fire. The project is being implemented under the supervision of the Directorate General of Land and Maritime Transport to restore essential facilities and services for fishermen in the area and enable the cooperative to resume operations under the best possible conditions.

Moreover, the ministry stressed that these projects are part of its plan to develop Lebanon's maritime infrastructure, improve fishermen's working conditions, and support the fishing sector as one of the country's vital productive sectors.
