Beirut: Public Works and Transport Minister, Fayez Rasamny, on Monday met MP Wael Abou Faour, with whom he reviewed a number of development projects and files under the ministry's responsibility, with particular focus on the Bekaa region and the Arab Highway corridor.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the meeting concentrated on preparations for the rehabilitation of Dahr El-Baidar road, with works scheduled to commence on Friday, Aug. 7. Machinery and equipment are expected to start operations as the project implementation begins. The discussion extended to the Al-Azhar Tunnel project, which is under the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR). The required legal and administrative procedures have been completed following a Cabinet decree that transferred a $7.7 million appropriation to the CDR for financing works on the Arab Highway, specifically the Al-Azhar Tunnel. A ministerial decision by Rasamny formalized the allocation transfer, outlining the remaining procedural steps for the project's execution phase.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the international roads lighting project, including the Dahr El-Baidar route. Various lighting models are currently being tested in Lebanon, and the most suitable option will be chosen before a public tender is issued. This will adhere to applicable procurement procedures. Discussions also included the Al-Masnaa border crossing, focusing on its current situation and related infrastructure projects.
