Beirut: Right To Play Lebanon organized a special event at Game House – Karantina, to celebrate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. Dozens of youth, partners, and athletes came together to highlight the powerful role of sport in promoting mental health, social cohesion, and peacebuilding.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the event kicked off at 10:00 AM with the welcoming of participants and distribution of promotional materials, followed by an opening session that shed light on Right To Play’s work in Lebanon. This was followed by a video message from Domenico di Nuzzo, the organization’s Global Child Protection and Psychosocial Support Specialist, emphasizing the role of sport in supporting children’s psychosocial well-being.
During this segment, a former Right To Play coach shared his personal journey with the participants, speaking about how the organization became a turning point in his life, helping him develop personal and professional skills and empowering him to make a positive impact in his community.
The day continued with a series of interactive training sessions and sports challenges led by a group of Lebanese athletes. These activities encouraged participants to collaborate, communicate, and practice teamwork in an educational atmosphere.
Rasha Nasreddine, Country Director of Right To Play Lebanon, stated that sports provide a safe space for children and youth in Lebanon to express themselves, build confidence, and develop life skills that will support them in the future.
Right To Play believes that sport is an effective tool for education and psychosocial support. The organization is committed to expanding its impact in marginalized communities across Lebanon.
