Beirut: Syria's Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani announced the signing of an agreement with Lebanon to establish the Joint Higher Committee for Cooperation and Partnership following a meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam at the Grand Serail. This agreement marks a significant step toward enhancing bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, the discussions between Premier Salam and Minister Shaibani focused on several key areas of cooperation, including electricity interconnection, transport, exchange of goods, and facilitating cross-border movements. The newly formed joint committee aims to strengthen ties and foster collaboration across various sectors.

During a joint press conference, Premier Salam emphasized the importance of building relations based on mutual interests and highlighted the positive outcomes of the meeting. Minister Shaibani reiterated Syria's supportive stance toward Lebanon and expressed a commitment to overcoming historical challenges that have impacted their relations. He also addressed Syria's rejection of Israeli attacks on Lebanon and advocated for a calm dialogue regarding the framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel.
