Beirut: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Wednesday addressed delegations from the Beirut and North Bar Associations alongside representatives of Lebanon's economic bodies, articulating that the framework agreement stemming from the Washington negotiations "reflects the logic of the state" and safeguards Lebanon's rights both legally and on the ground.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Aoun emphasized that Lebanon "has neither surrendered nor relinquished its rights," asserting that the country remains a sovereign state negotiating in its own interest. He underscored that negotiations were chosen as "the best available option after the failure of war."

President Aoun commended Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri for his efforts in preventing internal discord, noting a national consensus against sectarian strife and any attempts to weaken the Lebanese Armed Forces. He highlighted the importance of unity in maintaining peace and stability across the nation.

Further addressing concerns of safety, Aoun stated that all residents of southern Lebanon, irrespective of sect, deserve to live securely without suffering the recurring consequences of conflict such as death, destruction, and displacement. He also refuted rumors regarding the potential dismissal of the army commander or heads of security agencies, stressing the critical nature of their roles in maintaining security and extending state sovereignty.
