Baabda: President Joseph Aoun held a meeting with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri at Baabda Palace earlier today to discuss the overall situation in light of ongoing security developments. The discussions were centered around the Israeli escalation, particularly the targeting of critical infrastructure such as bridges that connect southern Lebanon to other regions, and the potential repercussions of these actions.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the meeting also focused on the challenging social and humanitarian conditions arising from the displacement of approximately one million residents from southern towns and villages affected by shelling and destruction. Both leaders acknowledged the public solidarity shown toward the displaced and commended the efforts by official institutions and humanitarian organizations in providing necessary support.

The conversation emphasized the significance of national unity and solidarity among Lebanese citizens during these sensitive times. Both leaders underlined the need to maintain civil peace and cautioned against being swayed by rumors from parties not acting in Lebanon's best interests. They reiterated the broad national consensus against revisiting past hardships, particularly any return to civil war.

Following the meeting, Speaker Berri commented on the nature of the discussions, indicating that the situation had been thoroughly evaluated. When queried about his confidence in the internal situation, he affirmed, "With His Excellency the President, I am reassured."
