Baabda: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Tuesday welcomed a delegation of young Lebanese diaspora members and students from the Maronite Diaspora Foundation at Baabda Palace. In his address to the delegation, President Aoun emphasized efforts to build trust between the Lebanese people and the state, as well as between Lebanon and the international community. He outlined ongoing initiatives focused on economic reform, combating corruption, enhancing judicial independence, implementing banking reform, and lifting banking secrecy, all aimed at steering the country towards stability and progress.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, President Aoun conducted several meetings addressing a range of political and social issues. Among these, he met with former Minister Tarek Khatib to discuss the country’s general situation amid recent developments. Additionally, a delegation from the “Beirut Manarati” Association, led by Attorney Marwan Salam, commended President Aoun for his leadership.
In a separate engagement, President Aoun met with Information Minister Paul Morcos and the newly appointed Chairperson and Director General of T©l© Liban, Dr. Elissar Naddaf. Dr. Naddaf elaborated on her strategic plan for advancing T©l© Liban to reinforce its role as a platform for consensus within Lebanese society. Minister Morcos highlighted significant achievements made recently, particularly in archiving and equipment upgrades. President Aoun expressed his support and wished Dr. Naddaf success in her new position alongside the T©l© Liban Board of Directors.
President Aoun also consulted with OGERO Director General Ahmad Oueidat, who updated him on the organization’s current status and future plans following his recent appointment. Furthermore, the President engaged with a delegation from the National Union for Disability Affairs to discuss the status and challenges faced by institutions dedicated to disability affairs.
