Beirut: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Tuesday expressed solidarity with residents of the southern border town of Alma al-Shaab who were forced to flee their homes amid ongoing hostilities.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, during a meeting with a delegation from the town, Aoun said he supports their desire to return and remain steadfast in their community, affirming that efforts will be made to facilitate their return.

Aoun stressed, however, that any return must be contingent on guarantees of safety and the protection of homes and property.
