Kuwait defeat Syria in West Asian volleyball championship


Kuwait’s youth volleyball national team beat Syria on Friday in the 2nd West Asian Championship, currently held in Al Ain city in the United Arab Emirates.

The match was closely contested as both teams showed firm determination to win the three points. Kuwait managed to snatch the points after a three-to-two sets win.

On Saturday, the Kuwaiti team will play against the Qatari team in a crucial match to determine the fifth and sixth positions in the championship.

Meanwhile, Bahrain, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon will play in the semi-finals.

Kuwait loses to Lebanon in W. Asia volleyball tournament


Kuwait’s national youth volleyball team lost on Thursday against the Lebanese team three sets to one, in the quarter finals of the Abu Dhabi-hosted West Asia Volleyball Championship.

The Kuwaiti team started strong and won the first set, however the Lebanese team quickly regrouped, regained control of the game and stole the show with winning three sets in a row.

The tournament kicked off Wednesday with 10 Arab countries participating and is set to wrap up with the final on Sunday.

Kuwait lose to Bahrain in West Asian Volleyball tournament


The Kuwait Youth Volleyball team lost against their Bahraini opponents in their third match of the West Asian Volleyball Championship, in Al-Ain, UAE.

It was a close game between the two teams that led to an extra fourth set, until the Bahraini team secured a win in the final minutes, ending the game with three sets against one, 25-23, 23-25, 25-15 and 25-22.

The championship kicked off last Wednesday and will continue until August 25th, with the participation of 10 GCC and Arab countries, with the teams divided into two groups, the first group comprises Kuwait, Qatar, Yemen, Syria, and Bahrain, while the second group includes Saudi Arabia, UAE, Palestine, Lebanon, and Jordan.

Three Kuwaiti athletes to participate in Paris ’24 Paralympic Games


The Head of the Kuwait Paralympic Committee, Mansour Al-Sarheed said on Tuesday that Kuwait was set to compete in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games with three athletes.

The Kuwaiti delegation includes Faisal Al-Rajhi, Faisal Sorour, and Dhari Al-Butti, who would be competing in track and field events.

In a statement to KUNA, Al-Sarheed said that Al-Rajhi would compete in the wheelchair racing competitions in the T54 category, Sorour would participate in the Shot Put competition in the F42 category, Al-Butti would also compete in the Shot Put competition, but in the F37 category.

Al-Sarheed emphasized that the committee has diligently prepared the three athletes, who qualified for the Games through impressive performances in global and regional championships.

He added that the aim was to achieve the best possible results and raise Kuwait’s flag in one of the largest multi-sport event in the world.

He also noted that Sorour and Al-Butti were currently undergoing intensive training in Turkiye under Coach Ahm
ad Harbi, while Al-Rajhi was training in Sharjah, UAE, under Coach Nizar Ramadan.

Meanwhile, athlete Faisal Sorour expressed his and his teammates’ readiness to achieve top positions and reach the podium, thanks to the excellent training camps they have attended both locally and abroad.

Sorour, who won a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, said that he was determined to secure another medal for Kuwait in Paris.

On his part, Nizar Ramadan, Kuwait’s coach for wheelchair racing, affirmed that Al-Rajhi was training intensively, twice daily, with great enthusiasm to win a Paralympic medal.

Ramadan noted that Sharjah was chosen for the training camp due to its excellent facilities, which have helped Al-Rajhi improve his performance, he was optimistic that the Kuwaiti team would win several medals despite the strong competition.

Kuwait nt’l Basketball team wins second place in U-15 Gulf Cup


DOHA, Aug 19 (KUNA) — Kuwait national team for basketball won second place in the Under-15yrs Gulf Basketball Association (GBA) Cup after a defeat in the final match against Bahrain 58-70, the tournament was hosted in Doha, Qatar.

In his remarks to KUNA, the head of the Kuwaiti mission to the championship Owaid Al-Anzi reassured the players and congratulated them for their performance and competition.

The Championship kicked off on Thursday, and concluded earlier in Doha.
