Beirut: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants announced today the launch of a new biometric passport service at Lebanese diplomatic missions abroad, in coordination with the General Security Directorate General. The first phase of the project has commenced at Lebanon's embassy in Kuwait, marking it as the first Lebanese mission overseas to offer biometric fingerprint registration for passport issuance. The service will be gradually extended to other embassies and consulates as per a set timetable.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the initiative will enable Lebanese citizens residing abroad to apply for biometric passports without needing to travel to Lebanon for fingerprint registration. The Foreign Ministry stated that the project is part of its efforts to simplify consular procedures, advance digital transformation, and enhance the quality and security of consular services in line with international standards.
Lebanese citizens are encouraged to follow announcements from Lebanese embassies and consulates in their respective places of residence for updates on the rollout schedule and the required documents for passport applications. The Foreign Ministry emphasized that the project underscores its commitment to improving consular services for the Lebanese diaspora.
