Beirut:MP Qassem Hashem has voiced his disappointment over previous negotiation rounds, stating that they have not yielded tangible results for Lebanon. He criticized the lack of perceived goodwill from both the US mediator and the Israeli side under the current framework agreement.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, Hashem expressed low expectations for upcoming negotiation rounds, citing Israeli political and military stances as reasons for his pessimism.
He also discussed proposals for new pilot areas, including one in Nabatieh, and noted that the earlier experience in Zawtar al-Gharbiya did not inspire confidence in Israeli commitments. Hashem argued that Lebanon's position would have been stronger had it adopted Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri's proposal to designate four districts as pilot areas. He accused Israel of employing delaying tactics aimed at prolonging its occupation of Lebanese territory.
