Riyadh: Lebanese Forces MP Pierre Bou Assi has made a strong call for both Israel and Hezbollah to cooperate with the Lebanese state, emphasizing the necessity for a more proactive role from the U.S. mediator and the deployment of the Lebanese Army in the southern regions of the country.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Bou Assi highlighted the urgent need for a complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory to end the ongoing conflict. He stressed the importance of disarming Hezbollah, starting with the withdrawal of weapons north of the Litani River and eventually extending disarmament efforts across all of Lebanon.
Bou Assi pointed out that Hezbollah's influence has waned, limiting its actions to mere threats and accusations. He criticized the continued Israeli escalation as a hindrance to successful negotiations.
Domestically, Bou Assi expressed his support for the Lebanese Army and opposed a general amnesty that would include individuals who attacked military personnel. He also voiced concerns over the disorderly conduct and management of parliamentary sessions.
On matters of leadership, Bou Assi praised his excellent relationship with President Joseph Aoun and acknowledged the president's significant role. He advocated for the inclusion of Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi in negotiations as a beneficial addition.
