Beirut: Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam engaged in significant diplomatic discussions at the Grand Serail, meeting with the French Ambassador to Lebanon, Herv© Magro. The conversations centered around the anticipated visit of French Presidential Envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian to Lebanon, aimed at preparing for two pivotal conferences. These conferences will address Lebanon’s reconstruction and economic recovery, as well as garner support for the Lebanese Army.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the discussions also covered the recent Security Council resolution extending the mandate of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and strategies for future engagement. Furthermore, progress in the handover of Palestinian weapons to the Lebanese Army was reviewed, with Prime Minister Salam underscoring the necessity of securing French and European aid to enhance the humanitarian and social conditions of Palestinian refugees in camps.
In a separate meeting, Premier Salam welcomed the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Lebanon, Alaa Moussa, accompanied by Brigadier General Amr Abdel Karim, the Egyptian Defense Attach©. The dialogue reviewed the outcomes of Salam’s recent visit to Egypt, which Ambassador Moussa described as a vital step in strengthening bilateral relations.
Ambassador Moussa reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for Lebanon, particularly in bolstering the Lebanese Army’s capabilities. Additionally, he extended an invitation to Premier Salam to attend the inauguration of the Egyptian Museum scheduled for next November.
