Beirut: Energy and Water Minister Joe Saddi briefed President Joseph Aoun on Tuesday about the outcomes of his discussions with his Iraqi counterpart during Prime Minister Nawaf Salam's recent visit to Baghdad. The talks centered on enhancing cooperation in the energy sector between Lebanon and Iraq.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Saddi expressed optimism regarding the positive nature of the discussions, indicating a strong belief that energy cooperation between the two nations would be bolstered. The meetings aimed to lay the groundwork for future collaboration in the energy sector.

In a separate meeting, Telecommunications Minister Charles Hajj provided President Aoun with an update on the results of the official visit to Iraq, where he was part of the delegation led by Salam. Hajj emphasized the reaffirmation of Lebanese-Iraqi relations and the potential for expanded cooperation in energy, economy, and telecommunications sectors.

Hajj also outlined the ministry's ambitious vision of creating a digital corridor linking Lebanon and Iraq through fiber-optic networks. This project aims to offer Iraq an additional access point to Mediterranean submarine cables, facilitating enhanced economic and digital integration between the two countries.
