Beirut: Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, on Monday chaired the weekly ministerial meeting at the Grand Serail, where ministers reviewed the repercussions of the escalating Iran-Israel conflict, particularly the additional displacement pressures facing Lebanon.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Information Minister Paul Morcos stated that Salam warned that accommodation capacity in Beirut, Sidon, and other areas has largely been exhausted, although some capacity remains available in the North and the Bekaa. He also briefed ministers on ongoing political contacts aimed at addressing the crisis and mitigating its effects.
Defense Minister Michel Menassa presented an assessment of the security situation, highlighting continued Israeli attacks on civilians, UNIFIL personnel, and Lebanese security forces. He reported that since March 1, 2026, Lebanon has recorded 29 military fatalities in the army, three in the Internal Security Forces, one in General Security, 13 in State Security, and one in the Parliament Police.
Menassa also noted that 70 airstrikes and 33 missiles were recorded in a single day, while Israeli ceasefire violations between April 17 and June 7 totaled 3,491 air raids, 407 demolition operations, six land-clearing operations, and six ground incursions. The reported toll stands at 3,526 dead and 10,733 wounded.
