Sidon: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, commemorated the 26th anniversary of the assassination of four judges at the Sidon Court, affirming that the crime remains a profound wound in the nation’s conscience and the heart of Lebanese justice.
According to National News Agency Lebanon, President Aoun paid tribute to the judges Hassan Othman, Imad Chehab, Assem Abu Daher, and Walid Harmoush, who lost their lives in 1999 while performing their duties at the Criminal Court in Sidon. These judges, he noted, sacrificed their lives for the independence of the judiciary and the dignity of justice in Lebanon.
Aoun condemned the terrorist act, stating that it targeted the foundations of justice in the country. He asserted that no force could intimidate or deter the Lebanese judiciary from fulfilling its noble mission. He emphasized the enduring power of justice over violence and reiterated his commitment to uncovering the truth and bringing the perpetrators to justice, regardless of how long it may take.
He concluded by expressing confidence in the resilience of the Lebanese judiciary and the eventual triumph of the rule of law, while offering prayers for the martyrs and a hopeful path towards comprehensive justice.
