Baabda: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Monday addressed the chair and members of the Supervisory Commission for Parliamentary Elections after they took the oath of office. He urged them to exercise their powers strictly in accordance with the law and to resist any form of pressure from any source. Moreover, the President stressed the importance of being fully prepared to hold the parliamentary elections on schedule, noting that the eyes of the international community will be focused on Lebanon to ensure that the electoral process is conducted freely, fairly, transparently, and democratically.

According to National News agency - Lebanon, Baabda Presidential Palace witnessed a series of meetings addressing various diplomatic, educational, and sports-related topics. President Aoun received Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Youssef Raggi, in the presence of the Ministry's Secretary-General, Ambassador Abdel Sattar Issa, to discuss matters related to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic efforts undertaken within Lebanon and abroad. The discussion also touched on the work of Lebanese ambassadors accredited abroad.

Additionally, President Aoun received Finance Minister, Yassine Jaber, who congratulated him on the one-year anniversary of the start of his presidential term. Their discussion also covered matters related to the work of the Ministry of Finance.

At the educational level, President Aoun stressed the need for Lebanon to remain a leading center for higher education during a meeting with the newly appointed president of Saint Joseph University, Father Fran§ois Boidec, S.J., and the director of Notre Dame de Jamhour, Father Marek Chislik. The meeting, held in the presence of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Minister Youssef Raggi, focused on the importance of safeguarding Lebanon's academic standing and educational mission, particularly amid current national challenges.

In another meeting, President Aoun received former MP Dr. Qassem Abdel Aziz, in the presence of Ali Abdel Aziz and Wajih Nehme. They held a wide-ranging discussion covering the general situation and the needs of the Northern region, particularly Minieh and Dennieh. Dr. Abdel Aziz also presented President Aoun with the first copy of his book entitled "My Life: A Journey Between the Possible and the Impossible."

Furthermore, President Aoun met with the former Director General of General Security, Major General Abbas Ibrahim, to discuss several pressing issues in light of recent local, regional, and international developments.

At Baabda Palace, the President also received the head of the Evangelical Apostolic Church, Reverend Roger Kandalaft, along with members of the church. They offered congratulations to President Aoun on the holidays and discussed the role of the church in protecting Lebanese society.

At the sports level, President Aoun received the President of the Lebanese Squash Federation, Zafer Ali Kabara, the Federation's Honorary President, Marwan Hakim, and Rola Bashir Khalaf. The delegation presented an overview of the state of squash in Lebanon. President Aoun welcomed the delegation, stressing "the importance of sports in refining Lebanese youth and keeping them away from vices," and emphasized "the need to restore Lebanon's leading role in various domains, especially in the sports field."
