Berri Engages in Key Discussions with Iranian Deputy Speaker and Former MPs

Beirut: House Speaker Nabih Berri met with Hamid Reza Haji Babaee, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council of Iran, and a parliamentary delegation at Ain El-Tineh. The Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, was also present.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the meeting addressed Lebanon’s general situation, regional issues, and bilateral parliamentary relations. Discussions included the outcomes of the Asian-African Parliament’s first founding conference held in Beirut.

Babaee expressed congratulations on religious anniversaries to Muslims globally, particularly in Lebanon. He mentioned his participation in the Asian-African Parliamentary Council meetings in Beirut. Babaee highlighted the forum’s condemnation of Israeli actions against Palestinians and U.S. support for such actions. He also discussed plans for educational and developmental initiatives for Asian and African nations.

Babaee emphasized support for Lebanese unity and non-interference by foreign powers in Lebanon’s affairs. Separately, Berri met former MPs Emile Rahme and Cesar Maalouf to discuss political developments. Dr. Jean Ellieh, head of the Public Procurement Authority, was also among Berri’s visitors.
