Public Works Ministry Initiates Cleaning and Sustainable Lighting in Chekka Tunnel

Chekka: The Ministry of Public Works and Transportation has commenced cleaning and maintenance operations in the 400-meter-long Chekka Tunnel. This initiative is part of the wider ‘Lebanon on Track’ project, which seeks to rehabilitate roads, bridges, and tunnels throughout the nation.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the ministry’s statement revealed that the current efforts are concentrated on the tunnel’s Tripoli-to-Beirut direction. These efforts aim to enhance visibility and safety, facilitate better traffic flow, and minimize risks for commuters.

The ministry also announced a plan to install solar-powered lighting in both directions of the tunnel. This move is intended to contribute to the development of safer and more sustainable roads, aligning with eco-friendly practices.
