Beirut: Former President Michel Sleiman met with Talal al-Mokdad, a candidate for the Shiite seat in the Kesrouan-Jbeil district, in a political and national discussion. Mokdad outlined his electoral project, which aims to consolidate coexistence, uphold the Constitution, and support the Lebanese Army as the main guarantor of national unity and internal stability. Sleiman praised Mokdad's project and gave his blessings.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the meeting also addressed the latest national and security developments, focusing on the Lebanese Army's deployment in the Litani region. Both Sleiman and Mokdad emphasized the need for the army to fully assume its role in protecting the South and defending national sovereignty amidst ongoing challenges and repeated attacks.

Both parties agreed that strengthening state institutions, particularly the Lebanese Army, is essential for safeguarding Lebanon, protecting its citizens, and preserving national unity. This meeting occurs during heightened political activity in the lead-up to the electoral process, reflecting a consensus on core national principles such as the state, the constitution, and the army.
