Cairo: On the sidelines of the 164th Ordinary Session of the Council of the League of Arab States held in Cairo, Lebanon’s Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji met with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Yahya. Rajji expressed Lebanon’s gratitude to Kuwait for its consistent support.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Al-Yahya reiterated Kuwait’s commitment to supporting Lebanon’s stability and prosperity, highlighting continuous support under all circumstances. The meeting provided a platform to discuss Lebanon’s decision to limit weapon possession to state authorities. The Kuwaiti minister welcomed this initiative, emphasizing its significance for enhancing security.
Rajji remarked that the decision to restrict weapons “should have been taken years ago.” Both ministers agreed that the resolution to keep weapons with the state is crucial for Lebanon’s security. They also concurred on convening the Lebanese-Kuwaiti Joint Committee soon to boost bilateral cooperation.
In a separate meeting, Rajji and his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdel-Ati discussed regional developments, including Lebanon’s decision to restrict weapons to the state. The Egyptian Foreign Minister expressed full support for Lebanon’s efforts and readiness to assist the Lebanese army.
