Beirut: The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MoPWT), represented by Minister H.E. Mr. Fayez Rasamny, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), represented by Resident Representative Ms. Blerta Aliko, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic framework for cooperation. This agreement aims to support institutional reform, enhance public service delivery, and advance sustainable infrastructure in Lebanon.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the partnership will focus on collaboration across several national priorities, including digital transformation, urban and territorial planning, sustainable public transport, maritime safety, port-sector development, and the sustainability and decarbonization of public assets. The MoU also outlines cooperation on crisis prevention, response, and recovery, while providing technical assistance and capacity development to enhance the Ministry's planning and implementation capabilities.

Minister Rasamny emphasized the longstanding partnership with UNDP, noting the critical support it has provided for reforms and institutional strengthening across the Lebanese government. He highlighted the importance of empowering the Ministry's teams with the necessary expertise and international experience to implement tangible reforms. Rasamny stressed the urgency of advancing reforms and projects critical to Lebanon's progress, asserting that the MoU will bolster capacity-building, institutional strengthening, and reform implementation to achieve concrete results.

Ms. Aliko stated that the partnership reaffirms the commitment of both the Ministry and UNDP to advance public sector reform, strengthen infrastructure governance, and deliver efficient, resilient, and sustainable public services for people throughout Lebanon.
