According to National News Agency - Lebanon, at a joint news conference, Press Syndicate Vice President Georges Soulage stated that the unions had submitted specific amendments during a parliamentary meeting ahead of Tuesday's legislative session. These amendments included objections to imprisonment, safeguards for journalism, and provisions governing the independent media authority and news websites. Soulage expressed the unions' surprise that the law was passed without the agreed amendments.

Editors' Syndicate President Joseph Kosseifi also criticized the legislation, particularly focusing on Article 104. He warned that this article could lead to journalists facing imprisonment and heavy fines. The unions announced that their lawyers would prepare a comprehensive legal study in preparation for a formal challenge to the Constitutional Council by a group of MPs.
