Beirut: Health Minister Rakan Nassereddine on Wednesday emphasized that differing opinions within the government should not escalate into conflicts that hinder its operations, asserting that the Cabinet must work as a cohesive unit and prioritize decisions benefiting Lebanese citizens.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Nassereddine made these remarks during an appearance on T©l© Liban's "Hiwarat Al-Saraya" program. He addressed the parliamentary exchange between Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and Defense Minister Michel Menassa, stating that such matters should be resolved within governmental frameworks while emphasizing the importance of ministerial solidarity.

On the topic of health preparedness, Nassereddine highlighted efforts by the ministry to bolster medical supplies and hospital readiness in anticipation of the latest conflict. This involved coordination with both public and private hospitals, professional syndicates, and international organizations. He noted that a centralized system for distributing casualties was instrumental in enabling hospitals to manage over 1,200 injured individuals during a wave of attacks.

Nassereddine further announced that survivors of the Beirut Port blast who still require surgeries would be given necessary medical coverage at government hospitals, irrespective of their insurance status.

Regarding healthcare for non-Lebanese residents, he stated that Lebanon could not afford additional hospitalization expenses and called on the international community, including UN agencies, to fulfill their responsibilities.

He also outlined plans to enhance primary healthcare, emergency medicine training, and foster partnerships between universities and public hospitals. Additionally, he stressed the need to improve conditions to retain Lebanese doctors and nurses.
