Kfardebian: Former President Michel Aoun and Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Gebran Bassil visited the town of Kfardebian, where their itinerary began with President Aoun laying a wreath at the memorial statue of Corporal Ronald Salameh, commemorating his martyrdom on October 13, 1990. Their visit continued with participation in a Holy Mass at St. Ephrem Church, attended by notable figures including MP Nada Boustani and former MP Roger Azar, alongside several officials from the Free Patriotic Movement and the region.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the visit proceeded to President Aoun’s garden in Faqra, where he planted a cedar tree. The day concluded with a luncheon in their honor at the residence of Bqaatouta Mayor Raymond Hajj, attended by dignitaries from the Keserwani region, municipality heads, and FPM cadres.

MP Bassil addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of Keserwan as a hub for both winter and summer tourism. He emphasized the region’s resilience and historical contributions, noting the importance of infrastructure projects like the Shabrouh and Beqaata dams in securing water supply despite challenges posed by the terrain and seismic activity.

Bassil criticized opposition to dam projects, stressing their necessity for regions like Keserwan and Metn, and further argued that infrastructure solutions are essential to prevent water wastage and ensure sustainability. He voiced concerns about political dynamics that hinder collaborative governance, advocating for a culture of acceptance and dialogue over unilateral approaches.

Bassil concluded by affirming Keserwan’s openness and resistance to exclusionary practices, underscoring the need for a political environment that embraces diverse perspectives to build a cohesive society.
