Vatican city: The media office of Druze Sheikh Al-Aql issued a statement on Sunday, indicating that Media Advisor Sheikh Amer Zeineddine delivered a special message from His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Sami Abi Al-Mona to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, commissioned by Sheikh Al-Aql, in response to an invitation from the Pontifical Marian Center for Islamic-Christian Dialogue at the Vatican, of which Sheikh Zeineddine is a member.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the Druze Sheikh Al-Aql conveyed in his message to the Pope his greetings and appreciation for his spiritual journey, affirming openness, cooperation, and aspiration to join efforts to reach sustainable stability in Lebanon, the region, and the world at large.
“His Eminence Sheikh Abi Al-Mona also expressed great optimism for the 14th Pope’s presence at the head of the universal Catholic Church, with his wisdom and the positions issued by the Vatican, which affirm social justice and equality among peoples, to influence and push towards reviving hope in the midst of this darkness, and to spread the spirit of cooperation to end wars, stimulate hope, and build a more peaceful and humane world,” the statement said.
“The letter to the Pope also included the opinion and position of His Eminence Sheikh Al-Aql regarding the infringement on human dignity and crimes against innocent people in the city of Sweida,” the statement added, noting that the letter highlighted as well the importance of humanitarian and international engagement in this regard.
“The letter touched on the historical legacy of the Druze community, its national partnerships, and its full respect for the peoples with whom it coexists in Lebanon and the region,” the statement concluded.
